When the worksite (or your driveway) has towing needs that a full-size pickup can’t meet, that’s when you turn to the 2025 GMC Sierra HD. This big rig is designed to tow, haul, and dominate. With 2500HD and 3500HD configurations, and seven trims with increasing levels of luxury, there’s a Sierra HD model designed just for you.

Engineered for Maximum Load
The Sierra HD is powered by one of two V8 engines. The standard 6.6L V6 gas engine generates 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque, while the available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 (standard on the Denali Ultimate) produces 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
In 3500HD models with dual-rear wheels, the maximum gooseneck/fifth-wheel towing capacity is 36,000 pounds. Conventional towing capacity maxes out at 22,000 pounds. 2500HD models offer greater conventional towing power, with up to 22,500 pounds. Two off-road oriented trims cater to off-road users: AT4 and AT4X. Both feature factory lifts, Rancho monotube shocks, skid plates, and a locking rear differential.
Bare Bones, Opulent, or Somewhere In Between
Like the Sierra 1500, the Sierra HD offers tons of flexibility when it comes to interior details. Lower trims provide basic utilitarian necessities such as durable cloth seats with manual or power adjustments and remote entry/start capabilities. Leather upholstery is standard on SLT and up, with the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims offering full-grain leather. Heated seats are also made standard from SLT and higher, while ventilation and massage are reserved for top trims.
On the outside, wheel sizes become increasingly bigger as you climb the trim lineup, and chrome accents become more prominent. All models except the base Pro trim have the MultiPro Tailgate, which creates six different configurations. The Denali Ultimate has a KICKER audio system integrated directly into the tailgate.
Work Made Easier Through Technology
Hauling tons of weight around is no easy feat. The Sierra HD offers several standard and available towing technologies that make the job easier and safer. All trims include Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, and a Tow/Haul drive mode. The SLE trim and up includes an in-vehicle trailering app that provides checklists, tire pressure monitoring, and much more. Up to 14 camera views are available, including a transparent trailer view and hitch view.
All models include a robust suite of safety and driver-assist technologies, including Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. The Denali Ultimate introduces Super Cruise for hands-free highway driving.
